Could you tell us a bit about yourself and your career journey?

I like to think of myself as an adventurer – always looking for new experiences.

Originally from Adelaide, I went to uni in Brisbane before moving to London (my first overseas trip)! Since then I’ve focussed on my career in professional services and worked across many of the spectrums within Human Resources – recruitment/resourcing, strategic projects and business partnering. I’ve been on international secondment twice, first from London to Sydney and more recently to Singapore. Sydney is home for the moment, but it won’t be forever.

What is your one piece of advice you would like to share with our young(er) audience?

The key thing is being open to opportunities. These are not always going to line up with your perfect timeline or plan but they will go in to building your toolkit.

Toolkit – what’s that?

Every experience you have, positive or negative, shapes who you are and the capabilities you have. You may not love every job you have, but you will always take away some knowledge you’ll use in the future. You’re essentially building your professional toolkit.

Who is your biggest inspiration and why?

I’ve never just had one. Inspiration takes many forms and it’s different for each person. People who choose the adventure, don’t always conform to the plan and achieve in their own ways inspire me. Bravery is not for everyone, but it does open up opportunities you would never have expected.
